Old Growth Riverwood is committed to encouraging the use of environmentally
responsible building and wood materials. No living timber is used since
we recover only previously felled logs. We bring history into your home and
at the same time preserve the future of our living forests. We also make every
effort to use all the wood scraps and woodchip byproducts that are left as part
of the reclaiming process.

Our wood is not only known for its historical and esthetic value, but also as
an environmentally friendly alternative to newly processed logs. Recycling
these ancient logs and historical lumber reduces the cutting down of living
forests. In addition, using reclaimed wood from demolished structures helps
diminish landfill waste.
Old Growth Riverwood has permits from the North Carolina Department of Environment
and Natural Resources, Division of Coastal Managment.

Recycling at Old Growth Riverwood is a daily process. Our reclaimed
wood waste is reused to make a variety of products. Saw chips are
ecycled by offering them to local horse farmers (free of charge).

environmentally friendly product, with consumers commonly believing
that by purchasing recycled wood the demand for green timber will
fall and ultimately benefit the environment. Greenpeace also view
recycled timber as an environmentally friendly product. The arrival
of recycled timber as a construction product has been important in
both raising industry and consumer awareness towards deforestation
and promoting timber mills to adopt more environmentally
friendly practices.
