Crescent Moon at The Cotton Exchange is pleased to announce their partnership
with Old Growth Riverwood on Castle Hayne Road for hand-made shelving
of reclaimed riverwood from The Cape Fear River for their new display area in
the their gift gallery of art glass and metal sculpture located in historic
downtown Wilmington.

“The new display area will be primarily dedicated to the promotion of local glass
and metal artists that we are fortunate to have as part of Crescent Moon”, says
owners Joan and Michael Loch. “We now have ten local glass artists associated
with us. We also feel very strongly about promoting businesses in our local area
so this project with Old Growth Riverwood made it a perfect fit.”

A connection was made between both businesses through social media site
Facebook. Crescent Moon focuses on hand-made art and a natural solution to
their plans for re-freshing the gallery was reaching out to Chris and Terry Metz,
owners of Old Growth Riverwood who had become Facebook friends with
Crescent Moon. Old Growth Riverwood reclaims lost pieces of history and
transforms them into unique and beautiful wood products for your home or
business. They process logs that they recover from the Cape Fear River as
well as reclaimed beams from historic structures from the surrounding area.
Plus Old Growth Riverwood is committed to being environmentally responsible
and does not cut down any living trees to produce their products.

This project partnership speaks to the philosophy of both companies, buy and
use hand-made and environmentally conscience work when you can. One reason
the Crescent Moon owners love their location within The Cotton Exchange is
the reuse of the wonderful historic buildings that have been so much a part
of the downtown area.
